Swimming Time Trial Standards
This is a Varsity Sport, it is not Swim Lessons, therefore athletes should be able to perform the strokes, dive off a block and do flip turns.
Below are the time standards for this season. The time standards should be used as an idea of what the coaches will be looking for. Athletes who are unsure of their times should go to one of the public pools and swim events for time prior to the team registration. We take into consideration that some swimmers may be strong in some stokes, but not in others. Again, this is a Varsity Sport, and swimmers will be expected to meet the time standards to be considered for the team.
Swimmers who perform better at distance events rather than sprint events need to share this information with the coaching staff and provide the coaches with times for a 200 or 500 free or 200 IM.
Time Trial Meet will take place during the first week of practice.
Athletes: All athletes please sign up for Remind 101 by texting the following: @pswimd to 81010
Parents: Communication with parents will come via email from the PRHS Swim and Dive Board. Please read emails from PRHS SwimandDive. To email the board please use the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
News, team calendar, and other information will always be available on the site: https://ridgeswimdive.swimtopia.com/
Athletes meet at the school at the designated time (can be up to 2 hours before the meet starts, depending on the meet location) and check in with coaches. Athletes then ride buses together both to and from the meet. Exceptions must be cleared in advance with the coaches. Times will be communicated by the coaches to the athletes and to the parents via email and SwimTopia.
Athletes/parents are responsible for transportation to and from practices. Athletes often carpool, but this is arranged privately between students and parents. Unfortunately, neither the coaching staff nor the booster club/board has the resources to coordinate transportation.
Swim practices will be held Monday - Thursday at Swim Atlanta from 3 pm - 4:30 pm. Friday practice will be dry-land at the school.
Approximately two weeks after afternoon practices start, morning practices begin. Traditionally, these are held Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 - 6:00 am at SwimAtlanta. Again, athletes /parents are responsible for transportation to morning practices and then to school.
Swimmers wear the team cap (with Lion logo) at all meets. It is encouraged to wear the team suit at all meets.
Encourage your athlete to wear “team wear” to meets.
All athletes are responsible for removing any jewelry before entering the pool. This includes hair bands or any other bands worn on the wrist. An athletes will be disqualified for wearing jewelry during an event.
Your athlete can be entered in a maximum of 4 events per swim meet, no more than two (2) of which may be individual events Diving counts as 1 event.
Athletes typically find out which events they are entered in on the bus to the meet.
A physical examination form is also required and must be submitted to the coaches in advance of the first practice. If your athlete does not have a physical on file, your athlete will not be able to participate in any practice or meet. If you have submitted a physical to your school dated after March 1, 2018, you do not have to submit another one at this time.
