Swimming Time Trial Standards

This is a Varsity Sport, it is not Swim Lessons, therefore athletes should be able to perform the strokes, dive off a block and do flip turns.

Below are the time standards for this season.  The time standards should be used as an idea of what the coaches will be looking for.  Athletes who are unsure of their times should go to one of the public pools and swim events for a time prior to the team registration.  We take into consideration that some swimmers may be strong in some stokes, but not in others.  Again, this is a Varsity Sport, and swimmers will be expected to meet the time standards to be considered for the team.

Swimmers who perform better at distance events rather than sprint events need to share this information with the coaching staff and provide the coaches with times for a 200 or 500 free or 200 IM.

Boys Event Girls
29.50 50 Free 32.50
35.00 50 Back 38.00
39.00 50 Breast 40.00
35.00 50 Fly 38.00

Time Trial Meet will take place during the first week of practice.

Meet Entries

Your athlete can be entered in a maximum of 4 events per swim meet, no more than two (2) of which may be individual events Diving counts as 1 event.

Athletes typically find out which events they are entered in the day of the meet.

TBD for 2021-22

2020-21To comply with the Covid-19 mandates in place in Gwinnett County, the meets will run as gender specific meets, i.e. girls will have their whole meet, and clear the facility before the boys meet starts.

There will only be one heat per event, a maximum of 20 boys and 20 girls will compete in each meet.

Physical

A physical examination form is also required and must be submitted to the coaches in advance of the first practice. If your athlete does not have a physical on file, your athlete will not be able to participate in any practice or meet. If you have submitted a physical to your school dated after March 1, 2021, you do not have to submit another one at this time.

Dragonfly Max is being used to submit physicals this year. You will have received instructions after you registered your athlete.  The login link is provided below.

TBD for 2021-22

2020-21 Parent volunteers are needed to set up the meet before the athletes arrive and to tear down the meet after the athletes have left. This is to comply with the Gwinnett County Covid-19 mandate of no more than 50 people in the building at any one time.

We will also need parent volunteers to run the meet console, HYTEK computer, and verification.  These jobs can be shared by 2 parents each - one during the girls meet and one during the boys meet.

Diving

TBD for 2021-22

Diving events will take place upon completion of the swim events in the morning meets, and prior to the swim events in the evening meets.
